“I lost my running mojo about a month prior to the race so was worried that I wouldn’t actually be able to run more than a kilometre. Fortunately on the day I got chatting to a guy who worked with children with special needs and this encouraged me to keep going for 11 miles. I am ashamed to admit that I ended up walking the rest of the way and so the whole thing took me over six hours but at least I didn’t get a DNF.
I have said that it’s my last one. I know a lot of people say that after completing a difficult event but I think I have been confusing the wish to feel like I could run forever with actually trying to run forever.”
